Islands of Stability, the newsletter

Each issue is one of three things: a new snapshot, a new case, or a resolved forecast. Nothing else.

What an issue is

01

A snapshot

The map has been rerun. The issue carries the heatmap, the noise floor, and the five quantities: viable fraction (descriptive), upper tool edge, boundary width, recovery time, fault-axis shape (descriptive). It also says which proposition moved, if any.

02

A case

One false island, coded under the protocol, with the evidence that existed before the failure, each item dated.

03

A resolution

A forecast has resolved, hit or miss. The issue carries the result and the changelog entry it produced.

If none of the three has happened, no issue goes out.

Planned issues

Planned, illustrative. None of these issues has been written or sent. Dates are targets and will move with the work.

Issue 1 is a measurement, the noise floor and rerun jitter, so the first thing subscribers receive is a number. The specification and the pre-registration are announced on the Theory changelog and inside issue 1. They are not an issue of their own.
